James White is Head of Studios at the UC San Diego Design Lab, where he works at the intersection of design, civic innovation, and community collaboration. His recent work focuses on translating design thinking into practical, community-centered action, including cross-border initiatives in the San Diego–Tijuana region. White has co-authored Design Lab publications on the Design to Action model and civic design, exploring how collaboration, experimentation, and trust can create durable social impact.
